As of March 1, 2010 the U.S. Embassy in Nouakchott, Mauritania will only accept visa applications prepared using the new electronic DS-160 application, which is available at: How to Apply for a U.S. Nonimmigrant Visa . All applicants for U.S. visas, except those applying for K1 (fiancé/fiancée) visas and E (Investment Trader/Treaty) visas must use the DS-160 application. Applicants applying for visas in Nouakchott, Mauritania (regardless of the nationality of the applicant) should select Nouakchott, Mauritania as the Embassy of Application on the first page of the DS-160 application.
For the moment, The DS-160 is only available in French and English. The text of the DS-160 instructions is in English, but applicants requiring French translations may rest the cursor over the English instructions and a French translation will appear. Please note that all forms must be completed in English, and applicants must answer every question completely. Applicants who do not answer all of the questions will not be interviewed for their visas and will be asked to return to the Embassy with a fully-completed application.
After completing the on-line DS-160 application, applicants must save their application and print a confirmation page. Applicants will then bring their confirmation page, valid passport, MRV-fee payment receipt and any other supporting documents to the U.S. Embassy in Nouakchott for their visa interview any Monday or Wednesday between 8:00 and 9:00 AM. Please note, applicants are required to upload a digital photograph. You should bring an original photographs that meets the current Embassy specifications (available here: Photograph Requirements ) at the time of your interview. If applicants are unable to complete their DS-160 application in one sitting, they may save their work by following the online instructions and return to the form at a later date or time.
