American Military Delegation Visits Mauritania

An important American military delegation completed a working visit to Mauritania from May 16-17, 2007.  The delegation included Vice Admiral  John Stufflebeem, Deputy Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Vice Admiral D. Brian Peterman, Commander, Atlantic Area, United States Coast Guard.

During their visit in Nouakchott, the delegation held discussions with the Mauritanian Ministers of Defense, Transport and Fisheries. They also met with the various heads of the Mauritanian military. The discussions focused on the ways and means  to lay the foundation for cooperation between Mauritania and the United States in the areas of port security and maritime transport security.
