United States Finances HIV/AIDS Center in Nouadhibou

Ambassador Charles H. Twining, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy at Nouakchott, presided this morning in Nouadhibou at a ceremony to sign a funding protocol.  He was joined by the Prefect of the Region of Nouadhibou, Mr. Yahya Ould Cheikh Mohamed Vall.   Under the agreement, the United States will provide funding of $100,000 (26 million Mauritanian ougiyas) for a center that will provide testing, counseling, and education in the area of HIV/AIDS. 

The center will be operated by the NGO “Stop SIDA.”
