Mauritanian and United States Security Forces Conduct Joint Training

Mauritanian and United States security forces began joint training in the Hodh-el-Charghi region on August 1.  The training, which is focused on challenges associated with clandestine immigration, drug trafficking and border control, is expected to end sometime in early September.  Additional security assistance training is planned for the future.

The United States is working closely with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and our partners in the region to achieve our common objective of ensuring long term stability in the Sahel and Maghreb regions.
