Embassy Supplies Necessities to Aged in Community Outreach

In a community outreach project to mark both World Hunger Day and World Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Chargé d’Affaires Steven Koutsis presided at two donation ceremonies held in the Nouakchott neighborhoods of Arafat and El Mina.  In cooperation with the Mauritanian NGO “Social Solidarity and Assistance for Aged Persons,” the Embassy distributed five hundred cooking pots filled with basic foodstuffs to help meet basic dietary needs of some of the city’s most needy citizens.  The initiative was undertaken as part of the Embassy’s humanitarian assistance program.
