Project Launch to Benefit Sixteen Mauritanian Associations

American Ambassador M. Boulware met Tuesday, February 26th , with the representatives of Mauritanian Non Governmental Organizations. At a ceremony where he presented support checks to launch the beginning of this year’s cycle of the American Embassy’s Self Help Program.  The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the work of the organizations and his pleasure that the Embassy being able to assist in their important work for the people of Mauritania.

At the small ceremony; representatives of the Commune of LEKCHEB, TAGANT, NASR NGO, Cooperative of SED ELVOURAT, thanked the Ambassador for his interest and concern.  The Mauritanian participants, including the mayor of Lekcheb Mr. Mohamed Ould Ahmedou, expressed their thanks for the Ambassador’s support.

Other groups to be assisted by the Embassy’s Self Help Program include:

1. Cooperative of Tinchitatt, Aoujeft, Adrar
2.  The Commune of Tenzah, Gorgol
3. Cooperative of Nasr we reissir, Aioun Hodh Elgarbi
4. Community of Lemeissek, Mbalal, Rosso.
5. The Hadaya  Association, Akjoujet, Inchiri
6. The Union for the renouvation of Traditional Arts of Oulata

Altogether the Self Help Program will support sixteen projects at a cost of twenty one Million Ouguiya.  The projects will touch each of the nation’s Wollayas and will benefit 40000 people in the realms of water supply, agricultural support, and primary education.
