Mauritania, USAID Sign Grant Agreement

Nearly $3 Million to Promote Peace and Development

The United States Agency for International Development West Africa Office (USAID/West Africa) has signed an assistance agreement with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania in the amount of $2.94 million, to promote peace through development. The agreement was signed by Abderrahmane Ould Hamma Vezzaz, Minister of Economy and Finance; Dr. Jatinder Cheema, Mission Director, USAID West Africa; and Dennis Hankins, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Mauritania.

Programs under this agreement will support activities such as decentralization and community development; community activism, vocational training and income generation for youth.
