Embassy Organizes Democracy Workshops for Emerging Leaders

Steven Koutsis, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Mauritania, and Mohamed Adnane Ould Beirouck, Director of Youth, in the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Sports  in a ceremony this morning opened a training workshop sponsored by the Embassy.  The workshop aims to better familiarize young political leaders and activists with the various aspects of democratic political campaigns and elections.

The workshop is the first in a series of three, on the same topic, that will take place in Nouakchott, Kaedi, and Kiffa.  The workshops will be led by Dr. Douglas Yates, an academic, teacher, and expert in democracy-building.  The workshops form a part of the continuing efforts of the Embassy to encourage the democratic process now underway in Mauritania.
