Embassy Public Affairs Office
Press Inquiries and Media Support
The Public Affairs Section is the point of contact for Mauritanian and resident foreign media on matters of U.S. Government policy worldwide, but especially regarding Mauritania.
PAS supports official visits by U.S. Government officials to Mauritania, making official transcripts of public addresses, briefings, and press conferences taking place during these visits.
Press inquiries to any section of the Embassy are made through the Public Affairs Officer. He and the information staff handle requests for interviews and background briefings, make appointments, and take care of access to other Embassy offices.
PAS disseminates the Washington File, published five days a week in English, Arabic, and French. It contains official texts and news stories relating to American foreign and domestic policy. The Washington File can be viewed on the Embassy website. Media professionals and officials can also receive the Washington File directly by e-mail and fax if preferred.
The aim of the U.S. Embassy is to disseminate accurate and up-to-date information on U.S. policies, priorities and programs. Similarly, we hope to dispel misinformation and false claims in the media about the United States. Click here for the latest on dispelling disinformation.
