Self Help Projects Launched

On March 28, U.S. Ambassador Jo Ellen Powell signed memorandums of understanding to fund five projects in Mauritania.  This marked the launching of the annual community assistance program often referred to as the Ambassador’s Self Help Fund. $40,000, or nearly 12,000,000 Ouguiya in total, was allocated to fund projects in the field of agriculture, education, and social services in Nouakchott, Trarza, and Gorgol.  It is estimated that approximately 3,750 people will benefit from these projects.
