Prefect
Imam Hamdan
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are pleased to be with you today to present this modest donation of the Embassy of the United States in Nouakchott.  This donation, under the humanitarian assistance program of the Embassy, made up of various basic foodstuffs and meant for five hundred of the needy, is offered in collaboration with the NGO “Social Solidarity and Assistance for Aged Persons,” headed by Imam Hamdan Ould Tah.

This activity is important for us for it coincides with both World Hunger Day and World Day for the Eradication of Poverty. It also comes within the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan.  We consider it a propitious moment, impressed with charity toward any underprivileged person.

I wish with all my heart that this gift will contribute to the reinforcement of relations between the Mauritanian and American peoples.
