American Embassy Supports Education in Mauritania
Through Donation of School Kits and Books

Dennis Hankins, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United States in Mauritania presided today in Kiffa at a ceremony to distribute 1000 bookbags and school supplies to students of the primary school of El Varough and the high school of Kiffa. In addition, books in Arabic, French and English on various topics were given to the schools’ libraries.

The ceremony marked the continuation of a campaign to distribute books and educational kits to schools throughout Mauritania.  It comes within the framework of a major effort  to combat illiteracy that the Embassy began on September 8, 2006, and which has allowed other schools across the country to receive similar donations.
